python vuejs spa (single page application)

With the popularity of web applications, single-page applications (SPA) have become a trend. SPA does not require reloading the page every time, but leaves the content to JavaScript to manage, thus improving the performance of web applications.

In this article, we will use Python and Vue.js to build a simple SPA example. Python will be used to provide the backend API, and Vue.js will be used for the frontend implementation.

Step 1: Set up the environment

In order to build this application, you need to install Python 3.x and Node.js. You can download the installer from the official website.

After the installation is complete, you can run the following command in the terminal to check whether the installation is successful:

python --version
node --version
Copy after login

Step 2: Create the backend API

We will use the Flask framework to Provides backend API. Flask is a micro-framework written in Python that makes it easy to create web applications.

We need to install Flask and Flask-CORS libraries to make cross-domain requests to the API from the client.

Create a directory named "backend", and then create a Python file named "app.py" in that directory. Copy the following code into this file:

from flask import Flask
from flask_cors import CORS

app = Flask(__name__)
CORS(app)

@app.route('/api/test')
def test():
    return {'message': 'Hello from the backend!'}
Copy after login

Here we have created a Flask application and enabled CORS. Next, we define a route as "/api/test" that will return a simple message.

Next, you can run the following command in the terminal to start the backend API server:

export FLASK_APP=app.py
export FLASK_ENV=development
flask run
Copy after login

Step Three: Create the front-end Vue.js application

Next we A single page application will be created using Vue.js. You can choose to use the Vue CLI to create Vue.js applications.

Go into the "backend" directory in the terminal and run the following command:

npm install -g @vue/cli
vue create frontend
Copy after login

This will create a directory called "frontend" and set up a basic Vue for you. js application.

Next, we need to install the axios library to access the backend API from the frontend application. Run the following command in the "frontend" directory:

npm install axios
Copy after login

Now you can open the "src/App.vue" file in your Vue.js application and copy the following code into the template tag:

<template>
  <div>
    <h1>{{ message }}</h1>
  </div>
</template>

<script>
  import axios from "axios";

  export default {
    data() {
      return {
        message: ""
      };
    },
    mounted() {
      this.getMessage();
    },
    methods: {
      getMessage() {
        axios.get("http://localhost:5000/api/test").then(response => {
          this.message = response.data.message;
        });
      }
    }
  };
</script>
Copy after login

The above code contains a simple template that displays messages from the backend API on the page. It also contains a Vue.js component that uses the axios library to get messages from the backend API and bind them to page elements.

Next, you can run the following command in the terminal to start the Vue.js application:

npm run serve
Copy after login

Step Four: Test the Application

Now, you can use When your browser accesses http://localhost:8080, you should see a message titled "Hello from the backend!"

Finish! Now you can continue developing your application as needed. This is a simple sample application, but you can use this template to build larger applications including login and authentication, database connections, and more complex front-end interfaces.
