Final Fantasy XIV's Cosmic Exploration: A Crafter's and Gatherer's Paradise
Patch 7.21 of Final Fantasy XIV introduces Cosmic Exploration, a much-needed update for Disciples of Hand (DoH) and Land (DoL). This new area offers a wealth of crafting and gathering activities, providing significant leveling opportunities and sparking friendly competition among veteran players.
Unlocking Cosmic Exploration
Cosmic Exploration is accessible to players who have completed the Endwalker expansion. Begin by accepting the quest "A Cosmic Homecoming" from Namingway in Old Sharlayan (X:12.6 Y:13.6). A DoH or DoL character of level 10 or higher is required.
Getting Started
Cosmic Exploration shares similarities with Ishgard Restoration and Bozjan Southern Front. Track your progress via the Exotablet menu (left side of the screen) in Sinus Ardorum. Speak with Researchingway (X:21.1, Y:21.8) to begin. Complete Stellar Missions to earn rewards through crafting and gathering. Key features include:
- DoH/DoL Only: Only DoH or DoL classes can participate. Level 99 and below earn experience; level 100 players receive Cosmocredits and Lunar Credits.
- Cosmopouch: A separate inventory for crafted/gathered items.
- Stellar Sprint: A permanent sprint ability replaces mounts (except during specific missions).
- World-Based Progress: Contributions to large-scale projects are world-specific.
- Cosmic Tool Upgrades: Upgrade your tools within Cosmic Exploration to become the most powerful DoH/DoL tools in Dawntrail.
Stellar Missions
Select Stellar Missions via the green icon on the Exotablet. These missions resemble Levequests, with objectives tailored to your class and requiring sufficient gear (indicated in the menu). DoH players craft items using provided materials; DoL players gather items from specified locations. Achieve Silver or Gold Star ratings for increased rewards (Gold Stars require High-Quality crafts or efficient gathering).
Stellar Success
The Stellar Success menu displays progress and rewards. Daily Successes grant 600 Cosmocredits and 1,000 Lunar Credits daily (for completing tasks like Gold Star missions). Standard Progress awards various prizes based on overall zone progress.
Mech Ops
Spend 1,000 Lunar Credits with Alerot (X:22.4, Y:20.3) for a chance to pilot a Mech during special FATEs. Even without piloting, you can participate as Ground Support, earning Lunar Credits and Cosmocredits, and potentially a Big Bang Ticket for Cosmic Fortunes. Mech Ops participation enhances regular Stellar Mission rewards.
Rewards
Missions and Successes yield Cosmocredits (exchangeable with Mesouaidonque (X:21.8, Y:21.8) for various rewards) and Lunar Credits (used with Orbitingway (X:21.8, Y:21.1) for the Cosmic Fortune roulette). Many rewards are unique and marketable.

Top contributors are featured as holograms near Scanningway (X:21.2 Y:21.0) for fourteen days. Ranking periods reset daily at 2:00 a.m. (PDT).
