Core Keeper: How To House NPCs
You will encounter many useful NPCs during Core Keeper's Underworld adventure, just like other survival games like Terraria and State of Decay. Of course, you can leave them in the wild, but then they might die or have to look around for them every time you want to buy something.
If you place NPCs near or within your base, it will be much more convenient for you and much safer for them, but if you want them to move in, you have to do some work.
How to place an NPC
NPCs usually unlock by beating specific bosses or completing specific challenges. After beating bosses, they will either be released from prison or you will receive a special furniture needed to place them.
NPCs may become targets for enemies like cattle and be killed, so once they are unlocked you need to transfer them to a safe place as soon as possible to avoid having to wait for them to rebirth.
NPC | furniture | Source Boss |
---|---|---|
Bearded businessman | Slime oil idol | Greci Abominable Behemoth |
Businessman in cloak | Mysterious idol | Golm Devourer |
Season businessman | Seasonal calendar | None --- Seasonal calendar is made on the carpenter's workbench. |
Fishing merchant | A bunch of bait idols | Azeos Sky Titan |
Brave businessman | Nuclear battery idol | None -- Complete the Challenge Arena in the alien tech laboratory scenario of the shining border biome. |
To prevent NPCs from wandering around or dying, you need to place them in a safe room, but this room needs to meet several conditions to become an effective place to live:
- NPC furniture must be placed in the room.
- The room needs to be completely enclosed with blocks made of wooden walls, etc., and there is at least one door.
- The room needs to be at least two grids high and four grids wide, but it cannot be greater than nine times nine grids.
- At least one bed is needed in the room.
- At least four spaces are needed in the room.
Once these conditions are met, the NPC will immediately move into the room you built for them and wander around the space.
You can find fishing merchants and cloaked merchants by finding their scenes without defeating their respective bosses.
The fishing merchant’s spawn point is 500 meters away from the core, located in the wilderness biome of Azeos, and the cloaked merchant’s spawn point is 200 meters away from the core, located in the forgotten ruined biome.
If you open the door, they may wander outside, but you can destroy and replace their furniture to get them back inside, or destroy their furniture and hold it in your hands to guide them around.
