SoCal Linux Expo Back For 20th Anniversary
Celebrating 20 years of fostering the FOSS community, SCaLE 20x (Southern California Linux Expo) returns to the Pasadena Convention Center, March 9-12, 2023!
This four-day extravaganza unites the vibrant Open Source community, tech leaders, developers, and users. Past sessions have explored diverse themes including security, development, embedded systems, medical applications, and legal aspects of Open Source. Prepare to be impressed by the expert speakers—choosing which sessions to attend will be your biggest challenge! Arun Gupta's Saturday keynote is sure to be a packed event.
For me, the expo floor has always been the highlight since my first SCaLE (way back at 3x). It's a fantastic opportunity to connect with the people behind your favorite distributions and applications, witness compelling demonstrations of Open Source solutions, explore educational resources, and even discover companies seeking top talent. And let's not forget the amazing swag!
Curious about the future of Linux/FOSS? SCaLE is a family-friendly event welcoming all ages. SCaLE: The Next Generation returns, showcasing the impressive work of K-12 students in OSS. These student-led sessions highlight their projects and offer hands-on activities for younger attendees, covering topics like security, video editing, and big data. They'll leave you feeling optimistic about the future of FOSS.
Join us for co-located events including Ceph Days SoCal, Kubernetes Community Day (new for 20x!), DevOpsDayLA, PostgreSQL @ SCaLE, SCaLE Kids, and Embedded Apprentice Linux Engineer (E-ALE). The ever-popular Hands-On Beginner Linux Training also returns. Register early!
Kubernetes Community Day marks a significant addition, dedicated to containers and cloud-native technologies—a subject of much discussion at previous SCaLE events. Expect workshops on Day 1, followed by sessions on Day 2.
From informal meetups to sponsored receptions, SCaLE offers a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere. Whether you're a beginner, expert, enthusiast, or somewhere in between, you'll discover something engaging.
Google leads the sponsor list as our Platinum Sponsor. SCaLE is entirely volunteer-run and wouldn't be possible without our volunteers, sponsors, media partners, and attendees. Thank you for making our two-decade journey possible. We eagerly anticipate reconnecting with friends—old and new—this March in Pasadena.

Linux devices are hardware devices running Linux operating systems, including servers, personal computers, smartphones and embedded systems. They take advantage of the power of Linux to perform various tasks such as website hosting and big data analytics.

The disadvantages of Linux include user experience, software compatibility, hardware support, and learning curve. 1. The user experience is not as friendly as Windows or macOS, and it relies on the command line interface. 2. The software compatibility is not as good as other systems and lacks native versions of many commercial software. 3. Hardware support is not as comprehensive as Windows, and drivers may be compiled manually. 4. The learning curve is steep, and mastering command line operations requires time and patience.
