CSS-Tricks is joining DigitalOcean!
Exciting News! CSS-Tricks, the website you're currently reading, has been acquired by DigitalOcean!
DigitalOcean's announcement is also available on their blog. Let's discuss this momentous occasion! I'll start by anticipating your questions.
Congratulations!
Thank you!
DigitalOcean? Isn't that a web hosting company?
Yes, and a very successful one at that! They're more accurately described as a cloud computing platform offering a wide range of tools, from servers to managed Kubernetes. Their innovative App Platform is particularly appealing to front-end developers, and their Droplets have revolutionized the industry. But what truly sealed the deal for me is their exceptional DigitalOcean Community, brimming with high-quality developer resources. Their dedication to education makes this acquisition a natural fit.
What's next for CSS-Tricks?
The website and its content remain unchanged. DigitalOcean is committed to maintaining the high standard of front-end development content and preserving the existing archive.
Will you still be involved with CSS-Tricks?
I'll be advising the DigitalOcean team during the transition, then stepping back to focus on other projects.
Why now?
CSS-Tricks, launched in 2007, has far surpassed my initial expectations. Its growth has become a significant undertaking, exceeding the capacity of a single person. I'm immensely grateful to my incredible team: Geoff, our lead editor and site manager; Robin, who transformed the newsletter into an industry staple; my wife Miranda, for her invaluable business and editorial guidance; and Sarah, our long-time staff writer. This acquisition allows CSS-Tricks to benefit from DigitalOcean's resources and commitment to maintaining and expanding its reach. They possess the capacity and motivation to take CSS-Tricks to the next level, and I have complete confidence in them.
Now it's your turn! Share your thoughts and questions in the comments below. We'll review all feedback and publish insightful contributions.
