Dragon Age: The Veilguard - Gear Enchantments Guide
Your gear is one of the most important things in Dragon Age: The Veilguard. While upgrading what you have might be enough, the enhancements you apply to your equipment can alleviate enough stress. The enchantments play an important role in your build. Just like upgrading and buying new gear, you’ll need to enchant each piece of armor and weaponry to have extra power.
They help tie everything together and make your build more complete. If you’re looking to do more damage or your armor to handle more attacks, our gear enchantment guide will show you the steps.
When Can You Enchant Gear?
This ability gets unlocked when you reach Completing the Veilguard story mission. It's early on, so you can't miss it. After you've completed the quest, meditated, and talked to Solas, the Caretaker's Workshop is ready for use.
The good news is that the first act of the RPG is less complicated than most of the game, so you'll reach this mission quickly.
When you make it to On Blighted Wings or On Deadly Wings missions in the campaign, you can pick one. Regardless of whichever story branch is completed, the aforementioned mission to unlock the workshop becomes available to you.
How To Enchant Gear
There’s only one place you can give your gear enchantments, and it’s in The Fade. Once you’re there, look for the Caretaker’s Workshop. He should be located directly in front of the Lighthouse.
Upon interacting with the Caretaker's Workshop, you’ll be presented with two options: Upgrade and Enchant. For topic purposes, select the Enchant option. You should see a screen showing all your equipment separated by type from there.
Applying an enchantment is pretty straightforward. Press on the piece of gear you want to be enchanted. Then, from the new popup window, pick any enchantment that's unlocked, and the Caretaker automatically the enchantment.
You can also enchant your companion's gear as well. Navigate to the top bar, pick whichever character, and then press on the equipment that's going to get the enchantment.
You can also remove enchantments from this menu too. Select the enchanted item, and the Caretaker's Workshop will extract it.
Applying enchantments is pretty liberal. However, there are some rules you need to keep in mind. First, no two pieces of gear can share an enchantment. You must remove it from one to apply it to the other.
The second rule is that enchantments must be two different types. For example, you can't have two Necrotic enchantments. One must be different, such as Fire Damage or Ice Resistance.
In most cases, weapons and gear can take two enhancement slots. You can have 10 Armor Damage and a 20 Weapon Damage enhancement on your main weapon. So there's room to experiment with what works and what doesn't.
These two enchantments work in sync with each other; one penetrates armor at a faster rate, while the other makes the weapon pack more of a punch. By allowing two enhancements to complement each other, you can make combat a lot more active.
How To Upgrade The Caretaker's Workshop
Finally, you can upgrade the Caretaker's Workshop itself. Doing so will unlock the next tier of upgrades and enhancements to pick from. Upgrading the Caretaker's Workshop is easy, you just need Mementos.
To find this resource, you can stumble upon a chest that may have one inside. However, if you don't have time on your hands but a lot of gold, you can buy Mementos at any vendor in Thedas.
