IDC: The global tablet computer market will grow by 22.1% year-on-year in Q2 2024. Apple, Samsung, and Lenovo are the top three in terms of shipments, and Xiaomi is close to doubling its growth.
According to news from this site on August 7, International Data Corporation (IDC) recently released the "Global Quarterly Personal Computing Device Tracking Report". Preliminary data shows that the global tablet market shipments in the second quarter of 2024 were 34.4 million units. A year-on-year increase of 22.1%.
The report stated that this growth was due to the lower market shipment base in the same period last year, and was driven by product updates from leading manufacturers, the arrival of the market replacement cycle, and inventory replenishment. Compared with 32.5 million units shipped in the second quarter of 2019, the global tablet market grew in the second quarter of 2024, also benefiting from Apple's product updates and the increasing popularity of detachable tablets from Samsung and Huawei.
Attached to this site are the highlights of major manufacturers in the global market in the second quarter of 2024:
1. Apple shipped 12.3 million units this quarter, a year-on-year increase of 18.2%. Apple’s tablet shipments are finally returning to growth with the launch of new 11-inch and 13-inch iPad Air and iPad Pro models. iPad shipments have grown everywhere except China, which faces fierce competition from local players such as Huawei and Xiaomi.
2. Samsung ranked second, shipping 6.9 million units this quarter, a year-on-year increase of 18.6%. Despite no major product launches, Samsung still achieved growth in the quarter on the back of commercial orders and a lower shipment base in the same period last year.
3. Lenovo shipped 2.5 million units this quarter, ranking third in the market, with a year-on-year growth of 16.7%. Its detachable tablets experienced much higher year-over-year growth this quarter (39.7%) than tablets (11.7%).
4. Huawei shipped 2.3 million units this quarter, a year-on-year increase of 40.3%. Its new tablet MatePad 11.5S performed well in the market this quarter, and the 618 online promotion season in the Chinese market further drove growth.
5. Xiaomi shipped 2 million units this quarter, a year-on-year increase of 94.7%. In addition to China and the Asia-Pacific region (excluding Japan), the company has also achieved significant growth in the European market, with outstanding performance in Russia, France, Germany, Italy, Spain and many other countries.
The above is the detailed content of IDC: The global tablet computer market will grow by 22.1% year-on-year in Q2 2024.
