Samsung Galaxy Z Flip6 shows up on Geekbench with 12 GB RAM
A recent leak ruined Samsung's grand surprise by showing off the entire Galaxy Z Flip6 spec sheet. However, it left out an important part: its memory and storage configurations. Thankfully, that was shown off by an earlier leak which also hinted at a slight price increase. Now, a Geekbench listing completes the puzzle with information about its memory.
It confirms that the top-spec Galaxy Z Flip6 variant will launch with 12 GB RAM- a much-needed update. It was inevitable as on-device AI tasks are notoriously memory hungry. The SM-F741B model number confirms it is an international variant. That said, Samsung could restrict to certain markets. Performance-wise, its score is on par with other Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy devices.
Interestingly, the memory upgrade also showed up on an earlier Geekbench featuring a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2-powered Galaxy Z Flip6 variant. However, that is very likely a fake as it is fairly easy to manipulate Geekbench listings with a rooted device. Plus, it would make little sense for Samsung to use a last-gen chip on a current-gen device.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip6 isn't the only phone scheduled for a memory upgrade. It will be joined by the Galaxy S24 FE, which might or might not show up at Galaxy Unpacked on July 10. On the other hand, next year's Samsung Galaxy S25 might still be stuck with an archaic 8 GB of on-device memory, something many would deem acceptable for a flagship smartphone.
