


Samsung mainland China's JDM mobile phone production plan revealed: 67 million units expected to be produced this year, accounting for 25% of the world's total
According to a recent report by Korean media "Elec", the company plans to significantly increase the production of its JDM (jointly developed, designed and manufactured) products from the original 44 million units to 67 million units. Specifically, the company plans to increase mobile phone production in mainland China. At the same time, Samsung also raised its global mobile phone production target from the original 253 million units to 270 million units. It is worth noting that in this new production target, up to 25% of the products will be manufactured in mainland China.
While expanding its production scale in mainland China, Samsung is also seeking to cooperate with manufacturers in Southeast Asia. Foreign media revealed that Samsung intends to outsource the manufacturing of 28 million mobile phones to factories in Vietnam. This move is seen as part of Samsung's global production layout, aiming to optimize production costs and improve production efficiency.
According to the editor’s understanding, Samsung has been trying to outsource some of its smartphone production operations since 2019 to reduce manufacturing and transportation costs. However, this strategy is usually only used in the manufacturing of mid- to low-end mobile phones.
In addition to the above-mentioned production of smartphones and tablets, it has exceeded the target set at the beginning of the year, with an excess ratio of as high as 22%. To date, Samsung has successfully produced 64.5 million smartphones and tablets, a number that fully demonstrates Samsung's strong production capabilities and market competitiveness.
