EU takes big step to allow sideloading and support third-party app installation: Apple releases iOS 17.4 developer preview

Apple will need to introduce app sideloading in iOS 17.4 by March 6 to comply with the Digital Markets Act (DMA). The new system will allow iPhone and iPad users to use other App markets in the App Store. Download and install the App.
The alternative application market will run as an iOS application and can install other iOS applications on iPhone or iPad. However, the App needs to be "notarized" before it is put on the shelves to ensure that the functions are accurate and Safe and not excessively collect privacy.
Any developer can create an App Market, as long as it meets Apple's standards for customer experience, fraud prevention, customer support, and more.
Apple does not charge commissions on apps installed through other markets, nor on alternative payment systems, which are also allowed in the EU App Store update.
Developers can integrate alternative payment processors into their apps, allowing users to make purchases and checkout entirely within the app, or developers can link to their website where users can make purchases.
However, although there is no commission in the third-party application market, Apple will still charge a "core technology fee" of 0.5 euros per installation per account per year. 1 million installs are free for all developers, and charges start after 1 million installs.
In addition to opening sideloading, Apple has also reduced local App Store commissions, reducing the original 30% commission to 17%. The 15% commission for subscriptions exceeding one year or paid by small businesses will be reduced. to 10%.
