


Former Xiaomi employee No. 9 Li Ming builds the world's first AI Android desktop robot
IT House reported on June 13 that Li Ming, the former founding employee of Xiaomi No. 9, announced his entrepreneurial start-up in April this year and entered the field of AI. He later established Optimist Company as CEO. From June 12th to 13th, Li Ming successively announced more information about his first product "Optimist Desktop Robot" on Weibo. This small robot is positioned as "a product that combines AI and robotics for geeks and enthusiasts."
IT House noticed that Li Ming forwarded a netizen’s response saying “618, you should save some money to check this out”, implying that the robot will be released around June 18th.
According to the information disclosed by Li Ming from June 12th to 13th, this robot is claimed to be "the world's first Android desktop robot", supports the installation of Apps, and is extremely playable.
Li Ming also said that "AI Android robot = unlimited imagination" can become an electronic pet or a powerful assistant on the desktop, "not only fun, but also practical." After the subsequent OTA upgrade, Optimist Desktop Robot will also open the system to users, support the installation of Android App, and achieve "comprehensive native Android capabilities."

In terms of appearance, the robot is equipped with a 2.1-inch circular screen, with "ears" on the left and right sides, which are suspected to be speaker parts, and the legs support left and right movement.
Regarding the specific system, Li Ming said that he developed a human-computer interaction mode called GeeUI based on Android, which supports electronic pet mode, functional mode and hybrid mode after OTA upgrade.
The robot also provides Chinese voice, touch, air-to-air operations, mobile applets and a "fifth interaction method" to be announced.
In addition, after the OTA upgrade, the robot will provide a development version of ROM with full Root permissions, allowing for more in-depth customization.
