Apple could release its first mixed reality headset this fall
Apple is currently developing a new AR/VR headset. Rumors continue to circulate as to when the company will release a mixed reality headset.
A few days ago, we reported that Apple might be planning to unveil the headphones at next year's WWDC event. Contrary to what we previously reported, Digitimes is now claiming that Apple will launch an AR/VR headset as soon as this fall. The report also adds that the new headphones will enter mass production in the August-September time frame.
Additionally, the report claims that Apple has completed Engineering Validation Testing (EVT) of the AR/VR headset. In other words, Apple has finalized the prototype, which explains why the company approved mass production of the headphones.
While the latest report may excite Apple fans, you should take everything said in the latest report with a grain of salt given that other high-profile leakers have yet to confirm it.
As for features and specs, previous rumors suggest that the mixed reality headset will be based on a new operating system called realityOS and will benefit from features such as Memojis and SharePlay. Additionally, it is said to feature two 8K displays and Wi-Fi 6E.
Apple’s mixed reality headset is expected to cost more than $3,000.
