News on March 15th, today OpenAI released a new GPT-4 large language model, and then Microsoft officially announced that Bing Chat has been upgraded to use OpenAI’s GPT-4 technology.
Yusuf Mehdi, Microsoft Corporate Vice President and Consumer Chief Marketing Officer, confirmed that the Bing Chat chatbot AI is already running on GPT-4. ChatGPT is based on the latest version of GPT-4 and was developed by OpenAI. A post on Microsoft's Bing blog site further confirmed the news.
Microsoft says that if you have used the new Bing preview at any time in the past five weeks, you have already experienced an early version of this powerful model. As OpenAI updates GPT-4 and higher, Bing will benefit from these improvements (IT House Note: Bing’s daily active users have exceeded 100 million). In addition to updates based on community feedback, users have the most comprehensive Copilot functionality available.
If users want to experience GPT-4, please sign up for the new Bing preview. Once you're in, you'll be able to use the new Bing to search, answer, chat, and create on Bing.com.
Previously, Microsoft only said that Bing Chat uses its own Prometheus model and "new next-generation OpenAI large language model."
Microsoft now says that GPT-4 for Bing Chat has been “tailored for search.” There's no other information yet, including when Microsoft will add the GPT-4 image-to-text combination capabilities OpenAI announced today.
