what is docker-compose
docker-compose is an open source project based on docker. It is hosted on github and implemented by python. It calls the API of the docker service to implement the rapid orchestration of the docker container cluster, which is defined through a separate yaml file. A set of related containers to serve a project.
The operating environment of this article: ubuntu 18.04 system, docker-compose version 1.24.1, Dell G3 computer.
What is docker-compose?
docker-compose is an open source project based on docker, hosted on github, implemented by python, and is responsible for calling the API of the docker service. The rapid orchestration of docker container clusters uses a single yaml file to define a set of related containers to serve a project.
So, the default management object of docker-compose is the project, and the life cycle management of a group of containers in the project is carried out through subcommands.
Installation of docker-compose:
Two ways to install docker-compose. The first way is relatively simple, but due to network problems, it often cannot be installed. And it often disconnects. The second method is slightly troublesome, but the installation process is relatively stable.
1. Download and install directly from github:
curl -L https://github.com/docker/compose/releases/download/1.24.1/docker-compose-`uname -s`-`uname -m` > /usr/local/bin/docker-compose chmod +x /usr/local/bin/docker-compose docker-compose --version
Check the version after successful installation, but it often fails due to network problems
2. Install through python-pip:
Using pip to install docker-compose relies on the python3 environment, and the default Python version of the centos7 system is 2.7.5, so more dependencies need to be installed. The process is as follows:
yum -y install epel-release python-pip gcc python-devel -y (执行两次) pip -V pip install --upgrade pip pip install six --user -U pip install docker-compose docker-compose version
The above I have tested the process many times. When upgrading pip and install six --user-U, a timeout error was reported. I turned on the hotspot on my mobile phone and changed the network, and there was no problem.
pip install ipython -- user -U If the network is not a problem and an error is still reported, you can try this
as above. If the network is not good, an error will be reported.
3. A simpler solution:
When installing the pip tool, directly choose to install the pip3 version. Using pip3 to install docker-compose does not require the installation of additional dependencies. The process is as follows :
yum -y install epel-release python3-pip gcc python-devel -y (执行两次) pip3 install docker-compose docker-compose version
The above problem will not occur on the Ubuntu18.04 system, because the default Python environment of Ubuntu18.04 is 3.6.8.

Four ways to exit Docker container: Use Ctrl D in the container terminal Enter exit command in the container terminal Use docker stop <container_name> Command Use docker kill <container_name> command in the host terminal (force exit)

Methods for copying files to external hosts in Docker: Use the docker cp command: Execute docker cp [Options] <Container Path> <Host Path>. Using data volumes: Create a directory on the host, and use the -v parameter to mount the directory into the container when creating the container to achieve bidirectional file synchronization.

How to restart the Docker container: get the container ID (docker ps); stop the container (docker stop <container_id>); start the container (docker start <container_id>); verify that the restart is successful (docker ps). Other methods: Docker Compose (docker-compose restart) or Docker API (see Docker documentation).

You can query the Docker container name by following the steps: List all containers (docker ps). Filter the container list (using the grep command). Gets the container name (located in the "NAMES" column).

Docker container startup steps: Pull the container image: Run "docker pull [mirror name]". Create a container: Use "docker create [options] [mirror name] [commands and parameters]". Start the container: Execute "docker start [Container name or ID]". Check container status: Verify that the container is running with "docker ps".

The process of starting MySQL in Docker consists of the following steps: Pull the MySQL image to create and start the container, set the root user password, and map the port verification connection Create the database and the user grants all permissions to the database

The steps to update a Docker image are as follows: Pull the latest image tag New image Delete the old image for a specific tag (optional) Restart the container (if needed)
