Create a custom image using an instance

You can create a custom image based on an instance and completely copy all the disks in the instance, including the data in the system disk and data disk, to your own instance. Defining the image.

During the process of creating a custom image, a snapshot is automatically created for each disk of the instance. These snapshots are combined to form a custom image, as shown in the figure below.

Operation Instructions

Please delete sensitive data in the instance before creating a custom image to avoid data security risks.

During the process of creating an image, do not change the status of the instance, and do not stop, start, or restart the instance to avoid creation failure.

When an instance is created using a custom image with a data disk, the data disk is created based on the image by default; if a data disk is created at the same time as the instance is created, the data disk snapshot of the image is created based on the mount point by default. The instance's data disk.

Supports exporting custom images with data disks.

When replacing the system disk, you cannot use a custom image with a data disk.

Operation steps

Log in to the ECS management console.

At the top of the instance list page, select the region where the target instance is located.

Click Instances in the left navigation bar.

Find the required instance. Click More > Create Custom Image on the far right of the list.

Enter the image name and description information.

Click Create.
