iOS 18 Beta 5 & iPadOS 18 Beta 5 Released for Testing
iOS 18 beta 5 and iPadOS 18 beta 5 are now open for testing. These beta 5 updates are currently only available for registered developers beta testers. Usually, shortly after the developer beta is released, public beta with the same build will be released, in which case it will be marked as public beta 3.
iOS 18 is for iPhone, while iPadOS 18 is for iPad, both of which include a host of new features and capabilities, including a new password app, dark mode icons and widget options, color shading of icons and widgets, customization of the control center, a redesigned photo app, Apple Intelligence AI features, a calculator app for iPad, and many other smaller features and changes, including additions to Notes and Safari, among others.
The latest beta 5 update has made some changes to the redesigned photo app on iPhone and iPad, while also introducing a new feature "disturbance control" in Safari, allowing you to hide annoying page elements on many modern websites, such as mailing list popups and annoying content covering content.
In addition, macOS Sequoia beta 5, tvOS 18 beta 5, watchOS 11 beta 5 and visionOS 2 beta 5 are also open to beta testers.
How to download and install iOS 18 beta 5 and iPadOS 18 beta 5
Don't forget to back up to iCloud before starting any software updates (including beta versions):
- Open the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad currently running iOS 18 beta
- Go to "General"
- Go to "Software Update"
- Select "Update Now" to download and install iOS 18 beta 5 or iPadOS 18 beta 5 to your device
The beta 5 update is larger than the previous beta update, so it may take longer to download and install on your device.
Developer beta builds are for developers, but like public beta, it is free to access and install for anyone interested in it. It is important to remember that beta system software often has bugs and is not as good as the final version, so beta testing of the operating system is only suitable for advanced users. If you are interested in beta testing, you can easily install iOS 18 beta on your iPhone, or install iPadOS 18 beta on your iPad.
Outside the beta track, the latest final version of the system software for Apple devices is currently iOS 17.6, iPadOS 17.6, macOS Sonoma 14.6, watchOS 10.6 and tvOS 17.6.
According to Apple, the final version of iOS 18 and iPadOS 18 will be released this fall.

The golden age of smartphones has passed? Future Outlook Technology enthusiasts often complain that modern mobile phones are the same and lack of innovation. Although manufacturers are to blame, we also play an important role. Let us review the development history of smartphones and explore the causes of the current situation. The Golden Age of Smartphones In 1973, Motorola engineer Martin Cooper made historic calls with the DynaTAC 8000X on the streets of New York. This "brick" phone opened the era of wireless networks. Nearly 20 years later, IBM Simon was released, becoming the world's first smartphone, equipped with a resistive touch screen and simple applications. Today, although it is a hundred times more powerful, the core function of modern smartphones is still used as an application portal. Early innovation slows down

The Mail App updated on iPadOS 18.4 introduces the mail category feature. The feature is designed to automatically categorize inbox messages in the Mail App into specific categories, including "Main", "Transaction", "Update" and "Promotion", as well as a nearly hidden "All Mail" option. While this feature is designed to clean up and organize users’ inboxes, in practice, many users find that the Mail Category feature prioritizes old useless messages (such as DoorDash promotional emails a few months ago) and hides recent useful messages from real people (such as family, friends, colleagues). In addition, the Mail Category feature adds an additional layer of interaction between the inbox in the Mail App and the actual view of all messages. For these reasons, and other
