I wrote about the S25 Edge recently and talked about how intrigued I was regarding the upcoming device’s notable thinness. Looking at the official specs, it seems the rumored 5.8mm measurement was right on the money, which is incredible, because we’re looking at one seriously thin phone. The rumored display dimensions, as well as the 200MP camera prediction, were pretty accurate, too.

Additionally, the official price has been confirmed, starting at $1,099 for a unit with 256GB of storage, and right now, the 512GB model is listed for the exact same price. Samsung’s flagship S25 Ultra starts at $1,299.99 for the 256GB model, so to me, this feels like a fair asking price for a more streamlined device that still contains mostly flagship features. Of course, you’re sacrificing a good deal of battery life with the Edge, which has a smaller 3,900mAh battery, compared to the 5,000mAh battery inside the S25 Ultra. Maybe Samsung will work some software voodoo and make that smaller battery last longer. We’ll see.

Given the Edge’s slim waistline, I’m quite curious how this phone will handle one of my favorite (duh) activities: Gaming. It’s equipped with a compact vapor chamber for cooling, but glimpsing the spec list, that’s a lot of spicy tech shoved into a very miniscule chassis, so thermals should be fascinating, especially when playing higher-end games like Genshin Impact, Call of Duty: Mobile, Diablo Immortal or Grid Legends. The Edge does feature a Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, which should prove interesting in terms of performance while situated inside a seriously confined space.

Furthermore, the new smartphone sports wireless charging, just like the S25 Ultra, contrary to some early reports. This device will undoubtedly prove to be a somewhat niche product, given its minimal but noteworthy external differences and many internal similarities to Samsung’s other current phones. If you already own an S25 Ultra, you’re probably not going to be interested in a sort of smaller, more efficient PSone-esque version.

I, however, am rather curious about how this device will feel and perform. Luckily, we won’t have to wait much longer before everyone (who has $1,100 to spare) can get their hands on one, as May 30 is right around the corner.
