Assassin's Creed Shadows The Scent of War Walkthrough

The Scent of War is the 43rd main quest in Assassin’s Creed Shadows. This walkthrough will guide you through all objectives of the The Scent of War main mission.

• Requirement: Available immediately after completing the quest The Rengakai

• Reward: 1000 EXP
• Quest Description: Rumors of an impending attack on Hashiba Hideyoshi’s allies have brought Naoe and Yasuke to Harima.

Meet with Konishi Yukinaga

You can track this quest using the Objectives Board. Scroll to the Shinbakufu and select the quest underneath The Noble.

You find Konishi Yukinaga on a penninsula south of Himeji, called the Old Port of Aga.

Speak with him, and you receive a dialogue option:

• [Are you linked to them?]
• [Are you in danger?]

These options do not change anything.

Deal with the fake merchants

Head a little further south to find the fake merchants next to the Kakurega in the Port of Aga.

When you arrive, you can just kill them, if you wish.

Otherwise, talk to them to receive a dialogue choice:

• [Lord Yukinaga doesn’t trust you.] – Sends you into combat with the merchants.
• [Lord Yukinaga has been waylaid.] – Continues the conversation.

Then another choice:

• [I’m the one asking the questions.] – Sends you into combat with the merchants.
• [Your operation is in danger.] – Ends the conversation peacefully.

Kill the fake merchants

If you chose either of the first dialogue options and then end up in combat, then you need to kill the fake merchants.

Uncover clues about the shipment

There are three clues you need to find:

#1: Map of Western Harima

No matter how you dealt with the merchants, you then move on to uncover clues about the shipment.

Head west until you reach the Aga Hontokuji Temple.

From the front gate (found on the south end of the temple), approach the temple. To make your life easier, take out the guards by the front gate.

Also, be wary of the one guard to the right just inside the gate.

Head straight inside into the building in front of you to find the first clue.

#2: Incense and gunpowder:

Turn around and go to the small building just south of the building you’re in.

Go in the front door and take out the guard. Then, investigate the open box.

#3: Shipping Bill

Go back out the door you entered and approach the building to the left.

With so many baddies on the east side of this building, you should instead go into it from the west side. There is one guard on the west side of the building to deal with.

Go into the building right behind a man sitting in the middle of the room.

Take him out and then pick up the paper next to him.

Report back to Konishi Yukinaga

Leave the temple and head back to the Old Port of Aga. Talk to Konishi Yukinaga when you get there.

This finishes The Scent of War in Assassin’s Creed Shadows.
