MacOS Sonoma 14.6 Update Released with Bug Fixes & Security Updates

Apple has released macOS Sonoma 14.6 for Mac users running the Sonoma operating system.

The MacOS Sonoma 14.6 software update primarily focuses on bug fixes and security updates for most Macs, however it does include a nice new feature specifically for the 14″ M3 MacBook Pro series allowing that Mac to support two external displays when running in clamshell mode (ie; the laptop lid is closed but the Mac is on).

Separately, Apple also has released iOS 17.6 for iPhone, iPadOS 17.6 for iPad, tvOS 17.6 for Apple TV, watchOS 10.6 for Apple Watch, visionOS 1.3 for Apple Vision Pro, along with MacOS Ventura 13.6.8, MacOS Monterey 12.7.6, iOS 16.7.9, iPadOS 16.7.9, iOS 15.8.3, and iPadOS 15.8.3.

How to Download & Install MacOS Sonoma 14.6 Update

Always backup the Mac with Time Machine before starting a software update.

  1. Go to the  Apple menu and choose ‘System Settings’
  2. Select “General” and then “Software Update”
  3. Choose to “Update Now” to download and install MacOS Sonoma 14.6
  4. MacOS Sonoma 14.6 Update Released with Bug Fixes & Security Updates

As usual, you’ll have to restart the Mac to finish installation.

If you’re not running MacOS Sonoma, you’ll find MacOS Ventura 13.6.8 or MacOS Monterey 12.7.6 available along with a Safari update instead.

If you’re running a Sequoia beta version, you will not find updates to Sonoma available to you.
