How to join the Mages Guild in Oblivion Remastered

The Mages Guild in Oblivion Remastered is one of the biggest optional questlines you can take part in during your travels across Cyrodiil.

It's a good idea to join the guild, even if you're not playing as a big magic-user, as you can eventually make custom spells and enchanted items at Arcane University once you've collected all of the Mage Guild Recommendations.

And when you become the Arch-Mage, you also get access to the Enchanted Chest, one of the best items in the whole game, thanks to its ability to duplicate ingredients.

How to join the Mages Guild in Oblivion

You need to speak with the leader of any Mage Guild location to join the Mages Guild in Oblivion. The leaders are usually found walking around their guild's area during the day. If you're unsure where a leader is, try speaking with other members of the guild.

There are seven Mage Guilds to find across Cyrodiil:

• Anvil Mages Guild - Carahil is the leader
• Bravil Mages Guild - Kud-Ei is the leader
• Bruma Mages Guild - Jeanne Frasoric is the leader
• Cheydinhal Mages Guild - Falcar is the leader
• Chorrol Mages Guild - Teekeeus is the leader
• Leyawiin Mages Guild - Dagail is the leader
• Skingrad Mages Guild - Adrienne Berene is the leader

Simply strike up a conversation with a guild leader, then pick the 'Join the Mages Guild' option to start the Mages Guild questline in Oblivion. You don't have to be a magic-user to join, but do keep in mind that you can't join the guild if you have an active bounty.

How to get back into the Mages Guild

You'll get suspended from the Mages Guild if you kill another member, or someone witnesses you stealing from a guild member.

If you're suspended, you need to speak with Raminus Polus to be let back into the Mages Guild. Raminus Polus is located at Arcane University in the Imperial City, in the Arch-Mage's Lobby area during the daytime.

Unless you're an Arch-Mage, you'll be permanently banned from the Mage's Guild after your third suspension.
