iOS 18 is Available to Download Now

iOS 18 is officially released, bringing many new features to iPhone users! After the summer beta phase, Apple officially pushed iOS 18 system updates to all iPhone users.

While iOS 18 isn't a revolutionary update, it brings many new customization options and features to iPhone and iPad users, including: color tweaks for icons and components, new Dark Mode icons, larger home screen icon options, redesigned Control Center customization options, standalone password apps, calculator apps on iPad, new features in Safari (for example, letting you choose to hide "interference controls" that hide offensive areas on web pages), redesigned (which may confuse some users) photo apps, message planning features, and many minor improvements to apps like memos and emails. Additionally, starting with iOS 18.1, users of compatible devices will also find Apple Intelligence AI features throughout the operating system.

iOS 18 is released simultaneously with iPadOS 18 (for iPad), watchOS 11 (for Apple Watch), macOS Sequoia (for Mac), and tvOS 18 (for Apple TV).

iOS 18 supported devices

If your iPhone supports iOS 17, it will also be able to run iOS 18. Basically, any model newer than the iPhone XR is supported, including all models of iPhone 16, iPhone 15, iPhone 14, iPhone 13, iPhone 12 and iPhone 11, as well as iPhone XS and iPhone SE second generation. You also need to reserve approximately 16GB of available storage on your device to successfully download and install iOS 18.

Note that Apple Intelligence AI features require an iPhone 15 Pro or later, or an iPad with an M1 chip or later, and will not be available until iOS 18.1 released later this year.

How to download and install iOS 18 updates

Ready to install iOS 18 to your device?

1. First, back up your iPhone to iCloud or computer.
2. Open the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad.
3. Go to General, then go to Software Update.
4. Select Update Now to download and install iOS 18 or iPadOS 18 to the device.

Note: You may need to scroll down in the Software Update screen to see the iOS 18 update options, especially if you see iOS 17.7 as an available update.

Your device will restart to complete the installation, and after restarting, you will see the iOS 18 splash screen and need to adjust some settings.

You can also use Finder or iTunes to update your iPhone or iPad to iOS 18/iPadOS 18 from your computer.
