Get Reminders in Your Mac Menu Bar with Reminders MenuBar
This handy macOS utility, Reminders MenuBar, puts your Reminders list right in your menu bar for quick access. Free and available on GitHub, it lets you add, complete, and view reminders without opening the Reminders app.
The app provides a fully interactive menu bar interface. After granting necessary permissions (a simple process), a convenient icon appears, allowing instant access to your reminders from anywhere on your Mac.
While incredibly useful, the app currently lacks reverse chronological sorting. This means older reminders, even completed ones, might appear before newer ones. This isn't a flaw in Reminders MenuBar itself, but rather reflects a persistent issue within the Apple Reminders app where completed reminders aren't always properly purged.
The screenshot below illustrates this problem, showing reminders dating back years. If you have a large backlog of old reminders, you might encounter the same behavior.
Despite this limitation (which is inherent to the Reminders app), Reminders MenuBar remains a valuable free tool. It's a significant improvement in workflow and a welcome addition to the Mac experience. A big thanks to 512pixels for highlighting this gem!
