Today's NYT Mini Crossword Solutions: Wednesday, May 7th
By Erik Kain
Spring has sprung, and what better way to celebrate than with a delightful NYT Mini Crossword? The recent rain has inspired a cozy puzzle-solving session, gazing out at the pink blossoms of my chokecherry trees.
The NYT Mini Crossword offers a quicker, more accessible puzzle experience compared to its larger counterpart. Unlike the main crossword, the Mini is free to play on the New York Times website or app. However, accessing past puzzles requires an NYT Games subscription.
Need a helping hand? Here are today's answers (spoilers ahead!):
Across
- Rhyming adjective with "sheesh" or "pitch" - NICHE
- Colossal _____, marine animal filmed in its natural habitat for the first time in 2025 - SQUID
- Like some caterpillars - FURRY
- Some spouses - WIVES
- Bill's time-traveling partner in film - TED
Down
- Letters meaning "Don't click this in public!" - NSFW
- "You can take this job and shove it!" - IQUIT
- Feature of a winding road - CURVE
- Added to the payroll - HIRED
- Dreyer's ice cream, on the East Coast - EDYS
This puzzle presented a moderate challenge. Getting "Some spouses" and the Bill & Ted clue helped unlock the rest. Some clues, like "CURVE," were straightforward, while others, such as "EDYS," required a bit more knowledge. My completion time was 1:31.
How did you fare? Share your results on Twitter, Instagram, or Facebook! I also provide solutions for Wordle, and you can find those, along with my TV guides and reviews, on my blog. Thanks for reading!
