Joe Burnett, director of market research at Unchained, believes we can only scratch the potential of Bitcoin, with a forecast of $250,000 this year and $1 million by 2030.

As the world's largest cryptocurrency maintains its upward trajectory in 2025, Bitcoin's resilience continues to impress market observers. Currently, Bitcoin has undergone an amazing recovery at around $97,000 since its bottom in 2022.

While some analysts set their incredible targets at $1 million or more by 2030, others offer more modest prospects in the coming year.

"I would never be surprised to see $200,000 in Bitcoin or $250,000 in this year," said Joe Burnett, director of market research at Unchained on X (formerly Twitter).

His bullish forecast is based on several convergence factors that may push Bitcoin to new heights in 2025.

“Global M2 is starting to explode considering the current Bitcoin macro setup, with Vix hitting the most recent all-time high that we haven’t seen since March 2020 and December 2008, which we’ve never seen.”

This period of market pressure may lay the foundation for major gatherings. As Burnett explains: “When the bottom goes into assets and global liquidity starts to expand, I think this is the time you want to ride the fastest horse, and I believe the fastest horse is Bitcoin.”

Indeed, the wave of institutional adoption continues to raise momentum. Companies like newly formed entities like MicroStrategy and 21 Capital are accumulating bitcoin, usually borrowing dollars to do it. The trend of "speculative attacks" on fiat currencies could accelerate the rise of Bitcoin.

"If the price starts to work, I think the company and individuals within the government will feel the same FOMO," Burnett added. "It may also be afraid of losing things...my assets are actually measured in Bitcoin."

The way to reach $1 million in Bitcoin by 2030

Burnett believes that by 2030, Bitcoin could reach $1 million, more than 10 times higher than the current level. His analysis of Bitcoin’s fundamental advantages over traditional store of value supports this prediction.

"The current gold-parity price is about $1,000,000 per Bitcoin. So that's over 10 times more," Burnett explained. "It can be said that Bitcoin is much better than gold in my opinion. It's better than gold itself, or its multiples or sizes, because it's very scarce and can be delivered over the internet."

Bitcoin’s unique currency features give it an advantage over traditional assets and other cryptocurrencies. As Burnett expressed, “Bitcoin is the most uncertain monetary instrument. This is not entirely certain, because nothing on Earth is completely certain, but it has the least uncertainty, and Bitcoin’s monetary policy is especially the most indivisible.”
