Gears of War: Reloaded PS5 Will Release Same Time as Xbox
Gears of War: Reloaded’s release date has been announced, launching on PS5 the same day as Xbox. Read on to learn more about its multiplatform release and what improvements fans can expect with the game.
Gears of War: Reloaded Release Date Announced
Multiplatform Release
Gears of War has been a long-time Xbox exclusive, being one of the most iconic franchises from the Microsoft console. In a Twitter (X) post on May 6, Xbox announced that Gears of War: Reloaded comes to all platforms on August 26, and yes, including PS5.
Xbox looks to continue its advocacy of bringing its exclusives across different platforms. During an interview with GamerTag Radio in January, Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer expressed his full support for their multiplatform releases. He stated, "We love our platform and our hardware but we're not going to put walls up where people can engage with the great games our studios are building."
Their current strategy may also indicate that the upcoming Gears of War: E-Day could follow Reloaded’s footsteps, releasing on all platforms and the same day as PS5. However, Xbox has yet to confirm anything in this regard, and fans would just need to wait and see if there would be any more drastic changes in Xbox’s other exclusives.
Faithful Remaster and Natively Optimized
The announcement of Reloaded surprised fans as the original game had already been remastered with Gears of War: Ultimate Edition in 2015. In an Xbox Wire post on May 5, developer The Coalition’s Studio Head Mike Crump shared what players can expect with their upcoming release.
He explained, "As we approach the 20th anniversary of Gears of War in 2026, we’re reflecting on what this franchise means. It’s about the stories we’ve told, the friendships we’ve built, and the unforgettable moments we’ve shared together. With Gears of War: Reloaded, we’re opening that door to more players than ever."
The game improves immensely performance-wise compared to its 2015 release. The Ultimate Edition offered 1080p at 30fps during campaign, and 60fps in multiplayer modes. Meanwhile, Reloaded will have 4k resolution at 60fps in campaign, and 120fps in multiplayer. It will also have 4k assets, remastered textures, enhanced post-processing visual effects, improved shadows and reflections, and more.
According to the post, "Players will gain immediate access to all post-launch downloadable content at no additional cost — this includes the bonus Campaign act, all multiplayer maps and modes, and a full roster of classic characters and cosmetics unlockable through progression."
Additionally, Reloaded comes as a free upgrade for those who have The Ultimate Edition prior to the game’s announcement. A code for the upgrade will be sent before launch via a direct message to eligible Xbox accounts.
Gears of War: Reloaded is set to release on August 26. It will be priced at $39.99 on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC. The game will be available on day one with Game Pass Ultimate or PC Game Pass.

New York Times Connections game tips and answers (Friday, April 18) Hello everyone, connecters! Happy weekend! I mentioned that this is WrestleMania weekend the other day, so today and tomorrow I may be watching a lot of wrestling matches. It should be very interesting! Oh, of course, I will definitely watch the latest episode of The Last of Us tomorrow. I wrote an article about the key changes made from The Last of Us 2 in Season 1 and why I thought it was a good decision (although I had some reservations initially): The first major change in Season 2 of The Last of Us appears to be to protect Abby’s cast I'm not worried at all about the next episode? Aside from that, I don't know what I'm going to do this weekend because I'm alone. Maybe I should
