Locating Aleswell

Aleswell lies north-northwest of the Imperial City. Follow the western road from the Imperial City, then head north and east to reach the village. Enter the Aleswell Inn, situated south of the village. Inside, you'll encounter the invisible Diram Serethi, who will explain the situation and point you towards the culprit, a wizard named Ancotar.

Completing the Quest

Diram Serethi will send you to Fort Caractacus ruins (south of Aleswell, down the hill). Prepare for a battle against several invisible, level-scaled enemies.

Finding Ancotar

After clearing the fort, locate Ancotar. He's invisible, but you'll hear him shouting at you to leave. He's typically found on the second or third floor of the ruins.

Obtaining Ancotar's Ring of Protection

To avoid a luck-draining mishap, you'll need an item from Ancotar. If you're a member of the Mages Guild, selecting the dialogue option "Not at all. Tell me more." will work. Alternatively, raising his disposition above 70 achieves the same result. This will lead him to give you "Ancotar's Ring of Protection." Wear this ring when casting the spell to safeguard your luck.
