The plan involves replacing a list of candidates for Countess Umbranox's new protector with a forged document recommending Lex. This requires several steps:

Find Information in Anvil: Speak to beggars in Anvil (like Penniless Olvus) for clues. They'll point you towards the blacksmith in Castle Anvil.

Access Dairihill's Room: The blacksmith, Orrin, will reveal a secret passage leading to Dairihill's private quarters. Navigate the passage, using a hidden lever to access Dairihill's room.

Steal the Candidate List: Break into Dairihill's room and steal the candidate list.
- Forge the Document: The beggars can also help you find a forger, "A Stranger," in an abandoned house near the Anvil Mages Guild. He'll forge the necessary document.
- Obtain the Imperial Seal: You'll need the Imperial Legion seal. This is found in the Imperial City Prison, specifically in the Imperial Legion Offices (access requires picking a simple lock).
After forging the document and obtaining the seal, return the forged list to Dairihill.
Rewards for Completing "Taking Care of Lex":
- 1,000 Gold
- Promotion to Shadowfoot
- Orrin in Castle Anvil becomes a fence for you.
Once you've fenced 600 gold worth of items after completing this quest, a messenger from the Gray Fox will initiate the next quest, "Turning a Blind Eye."
