New York Times Connections game April 30 Tips and Answers

Wednesday is here, which means it's time to play Connections again!

Today's recommendation, I could have easily chosen NSYNC's "It's Gonna Be Me". Justin Timberlake sounded like “May” when he sang the last lyrics, so listening to the song at the end of April has been a joke since 25 years since the song was released.

But I won't do that, it's too predictable. You will never...

Oops!

Before we get started, we have a great little community on Discord where we talk about The New York Times Connections, other New York Times games and all sorts of other things. Everyone who joined was friendly. This is a fun gathering place and you are welcome to play with us.

Discord is also the best way to provide me with column feedback, especially when I make mistakes (or less common). I don't read much about comments or tweets.

Here are the tips and answers for the New York Times Connections game Wednesday, April 30.

How to play Connections game

Connections is a free, popular New York Times daily word game. There is a new puzzle every midnight. You can play on the New York Times website or on the gaming app.

You will see a grid of 16 words. Your task is to arrange them into four four-character groups by finding out the connections between them. These groups can be such as items you can click on, the name of the study participant, or words that start with a body part, etc.

There is only one solution for each puzzle, and you need to be careful when dealing with words that may fall into multiple categories. You can disrupt the order of words and maybe help you see the connection between them.

Each group is color-coded. The yellow group is usually the easiest to find, the blue and green are centered, and the purple group is usually the hardest. Purple groups usually involve word games.

Select the four words you think can be put together and press Submit. If you guess wrong, you will lose a life. If you get close to a correct group, you may see a message telling you that you are only one word away from the correct answer, but you still need to figure out which word needs to be exchanged.

If you make four mistakes, the game is over. Let's make sure that doesn't happen with the help of some tips, and if you're really struggling, here are the answers for today's Connections. Like Wordle and other similar games, it's easy to share results with your friends on social media and group chats.

If you have a full-scale New York Times visit or a game subscription, you can access the newspaper's Connections archive. This includes all previous Connections games, so you can go back and play any game you missed.

Apart from the first 60 games or so, if you need a prompt, you should be able to find my prompt via Google! Just click here and add the game date you need to have the clue or answer in your search query.

What is the Connections prompt today?

Scroll slowly! After each Connections group’s prompt, I reveal what these groups are, without telling you immediately which words belong to them.

Today's 16 words are...

  • LADDER (Ladder)
  • BATTER (Batter)
  • SUIT (suit)
  • CANDLESTICK (Candlehold)
  • INFIELD (Infield)
  • ROPE (rope)
  • PASTE (paste)
  • PITCHER (Pitcher)
  • GEMSTONE (Gemstone)
  • MOUNTAIN (Mountain)
  • PLATE (Plate)
  • MIXTURE (Mixture)
  • TREE (tree)
  • DOUGH (Dough)
  • RHOMBUS (Rhombus)
  • PLACEMAT (Particle Mat)

And today's "Connections" group's prompt is:

  • Yellow sets – like shoes and toes
  • Green Group - How many people can accommodate in one space
  • Blue Group – How Others See Us
  • Purple Group – I must admit, this group is a bit disgusting

What is the Connections group today?

Need more help?

Warning: We start to enter the spoiler area .

Today's "Connections" group is...

  • Yellow set - shoe parts
  • Green Group - Accommodation
  • Blue Group - Honor
  • Purple Group – ends with synonyms of “disgusting”

What is the answer to Connections today?

Spoiler warning! Don't scroll down the page until you're ready to know the answers to Connections today.

This is your last warning!

The answer to today's Connections is...

  • Yellow set - parts of the shoe (HEEL (heel), SOLE (sole), TONGUE (tongue), UPPER (upper))
  • Green Group - Accommodation (CAPACITY (capacity), CHAIRS (chair), ROOM (room), SEATING (seat))
  • Blue Group - Honor (FACE (face), IMAGE (image), REGARD (evaluation), STANDING (status))
  • Purple Group - ends with synonyms of "disgusting" (DYNASTY, ENGROSS, GIMMICK, MILDEW)

This game is a bit difficult, but I succeeded! My winning streak reached 64 games. My results are as follows:

?????
?????
?????
?????
?????
?????

HEEL, SOLE and TONGUE certainly look like they can be combined as shoe parts. But once I think of GIMMICK, I'm sure there are other situations. HEEL, FACE, GIMMICK and CHAIRS are all terms closely related to professional wrestling. As someone who might spend too much time watching, reading and thinking about professional wrestling, I had to give it a try.

As a result...it's not a group. Or close to a group.

Damn it. I really tried hard to try.

After that, I was stumped by the second misleading information I thought. oops. STANDING, SEATING, UPPER and CAPACITY all feel like they can be put together according to the concert audience. I think UPPER refers to a balcony or a higher floor. But not. Oops.

It wasn't until then that I realized that UPPER could be a part of the shoe. well. This gave me the yellow group.

When I saw STANDING again, I remembered what I wrote at the beginning of a recent post: Reputation. This helped me infer the blue group.

At that time, I felt that the green groups had to be put together because nothing else was logical. The purple group was left, and I finally stared at those four words for a few minutes before I figured out the connection. They refer to annoying (DYNASTY), disgusting (ENGROSS), disgusting (GIMMICK), and offensive (MILDEW).

The game is really hard today! Still, I'm very happy with my purple tips. "A little disgusting." Have you guessed it? Well, did you guess it?

This is all about the clues and answers of today's Connections. If you need it, be sure to check out my blog for tips and answers about Thursday’s game tomorrow.

P.: It may not be as eye-catching as "Pink Pony Club", "Hot To Go" or "Good Luck, Babe", but Chappell Roan's "Naked in Manhattan" is easy to juxtapose them. This is a great synth pop song and I really like it. I hope you like it too:

I wish you a happy day! Drink more water! Call your lover!
