Samsung's Galaxy S24 'Certified Re-Newed' Phones Start at $620
Samsung launches certified refurbished Galaxy S24, S24 and S24 Ultra phones. The devices have been refurbished and equipped with a brand new battery, "assembled by Samsung engineers" and are priced below the new Galaxy S25 phone.
Samsung positioned the certified refurbished Galaxy S24 series as an economical and environmentally friendly alternative to the latest Galaxy S25, S25 and S25 Ultra. They are cheaper than new phones, and the phone you purchased might have been dismantled or discarded in a landfill.
Samsung's plan takes an old phone (mostly from the trade-in plan), replaces the original battery and any other damaged parts with original parts, and tests that all functions work as expected. These phones also get new IMEI numbers, so you don't have to worry about the problems that may arise when the carrier locks down and other used phones. These phones come with a one-year warranty, and you can choose to buy a Samsung Care to cover accidental damage, or purchase a Samsung Care that includes theft and loss insurance.
Related##### Galaxy S25 vs. Galaxy S24: Samsung could have done better
The all-new Samsung Galaxy S25 has deeper Galaxy AI integration and a more powerful chipset than its predecessors. But, for Galaxy S24 users, does it provide enough reason for upgrading?
However, software support for certified refurbished phones remains the same. Samsung promises seven years of operating system and security updates to the S24 series, and since these phones have been on the market for about a year, there are still six years of support. There is still a long time before you have to worry about missing out on important security fixes, though.
Pricing and Alternatives
The 128GB Galaxy S24 basic model costs $620, and the 256GB version costs $670. The larger Galaxy S24, the 256GB version costs $800, and the 512GB version costs $920. Finally, the Galaxy S24 Ultra with the S Pen is priced at $1,020 for the 256GB version and the 512GB version for $1,140.
These are all good deals, especially given the slight difference between the S24 and S25 series. The S25 usually costs about $700, and the S25 usually costs about $900. You can save about $100 and get almost the same phone.
##### Samsung Galaxy S24 certified refurbished version
The Samsung Galaxy S24 may be the smallest phone in the series, but it has great processing power and a great camera, which is perfect for selfies, posing and more.
Samsung costs $669 You can also consider the Galaxy S24 FE, which is Samsung's current economical flagship in the United States. It has a 6.7-inch screen (about the same as the S24) and three cameras, and even though its original 128GB storage version cost $650, it has dropped to $500 at least once.
Unfortunately, the color options for certified refurbished phones are limited. The Galaxy S24 and S24 are only available in standard obsidian black, while the S24 Ultra sells only titanium black. If you want bright colors, you must turn to the phone case and film.
Yesterday's Galaxy
This is not the first time Samsung has started selling a refurbished version of last year’s phone. After the release of the Galaxy S24, Samsung added all three Galaxy S23 models to its certification renovation program. These phones also come pre-installed with the latest One UI 6.1 update, but this refurbished S24 phone can't do that, as One UI 7 is still waiting.
The price of the refurbished S23 phone is almost the same. The S23 with the 128GB storage version starts at $619, the S23 with the 128GB storage version starts at $769, and the S24 Ultra with the 128GB storage version starts at $919.
