Apache 80 port occupied solution

When the Apache 80 port is occupied and cannot get the Web service started or run, you can use the following methods to resolve the issue:

1. Find out the process that occupies the port

  • Use netstat -ano | findstr :80 command to find the process ID (PID) that occupies port 80.
  • Then use tasklist /fi "pid eq PID" command to get the process name.

2. Close the occupancy process

  • Use taskkill /pid PID /f command to force the process to terminate, where PID is the process ID that occupies the process.

3. Check the firewall

  • Make sure the firewall is not blocking Apache from accessing port 80. If the firewall is enabled, add rules to allow Apache to use the port.

4. Reconfigure Apache

  • If the above method does not work, you can reconfigure Apache to use a different port.
  • Edit the Apache configuration file (httpd.conf) and find the following line:

Listen 80

    Copy after login
  • Change 80 to another unoccupied port, such as 8080.

5. Restart Apache

  • After reconfiguring Apache, restart it with the following command:
  • Windows: apachectl -k restart
  • Linux: /etc/init.d/apache2 restart

hint:

  • If the occupancy process cannot be forced to terminate, you can try running the above command with administrator privileges.
  • If you reconfigure Apache to use a different port, you need to update the settings on the client or web server to use the new port.
  • If the problem persists, you can try disabling IPv6 as this may cause port conflicts.
