PNY's Latest microSD Cards Are Ultra-Tough
PNY launches PRO Elite high-durability microSD card, focusing on reliability and continuously writing data for up to 137,600 hours. These cards are waterproof, magnetic and shock-proof, and are very suitable for harsh environments such as sports cameras. The price is reasonable, the 64GB three-card package costs $27.99, and the 512GB single card costs $59.99.
You may never have imagined that microSD cards, like other tech products, will also degrade over time. After years of use and multiple write cycles, its functionality begins to decay. If you don't want to worry about this, PNY has launched this ultra-durable microSD card that ensures stable operation for years.
PNY's latest PRO Elite high-durability microSD card is roughly similar to the ordinary microSD card of about $20 for other manufacturers on the market, but its internal design is very different. PNY prioritizes reliability. The 512GB version can continuously write data for up to 137,600 hours, equivalent to 15 years. The lower storage capacity version has shorter continuous write times because the number of write loops depends on the actual storage space, but still performs well. For example, the 64GB version (the series’ minimum capacity) can be written continuously for 17,200 hours, about two years.
Even if you don't use a single SD card for a long time, this card still has its advantages. PNY claims it is waterproof, magnetic and shockproof. While PNY does not provide specific waterproof, anti-magnetic and shock-proof rating data, it only means that it has been "internal testing", a two-year warranty may compensate for any possible damage. We have contacted PNY to confirm this. If true, this card will be perfect for devices in harsh environments such as sports cameras.
Speed is OK, not the fastest on the market. Its ranks are Class 10, U3 and V30, with read speeds up to 100 MB/s and write speeds up to 90 MB/s. Enough for 1080p and 4K recording, but higher resolutions may be difficult. Enough for most common uses, but be aware that its transfer speed may limit your use.
It should be noted that this is not a microSD Express card, but an ordinary microSD card. The microSD Express card has additional pins and is compatible with the PCI Express/NVMe interface used by SSDs, so it is much faster than the standard card. The upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 will also use it for storage expansion. It is faster, has more reliable connections and has lower latency. But it is not a wide standard at present - most cards on the market, including this new card, are ordinary non-Express microSD cards. If you plan to use it for your Nintendo Switch 2, it won't work. However, for devices like GoPro cameras, it is a more reasonable choice.

1. The 64GB three-card package costs $27.99, and the 128GB two-card package costs $29.99. 256GB and 512GB cards are sold separately – 256GB is priced at $29.99 and 512GB is priced at $59.99. The price doubled, but the storage space doubled, and it can be written for 15 years. Quite good. You can buy it on PNY official website.
