The Dawn Of The AI CEO? Why Education Needs To Watch Closely
Qu Xiaoyin, founder of HeyBoss AI, has developed a children's game studio into an AI-driven development platform. When she launched Astra as an internal brainstorming tool, she never thought she would be replaced by it. But this tool continues to evolve, not only generates creativity, but also executes quickly, efficiently and automatically.
Qu Xiaoyin recently announced on LinkedIn: "Today, I resigned from the position of HeyBoss AI CEO. I was succeeded by Astra, the AI leader we created and the world's first AI CEO." Astra was not applying for promotion, but won this position with his performance that exceeded expectations. Today, she leads a system of algorithm teammates, with no managers, no engineers, no content strategists, only robots.
It works as follows: The user enters a sentence, for example: "I need a website that serves my pet grooming business." Nine minutes later, the product will be delivered: a fully functional website with custom designs, SEO embeds and configured hosts. Users can make changes through the chat interface, and the modifications will take effect immediately. The team behind the scenes is invisible because it is all done by AI.
HeyBoss claims Astra oversees everything, and she directs dedicated AI agents to design, development, marketing and deployment. There is no office, no HR department, and no pizza party on Friday.
This sounds perfect, maybe too perfect, because there is an indefinable discomfort behind the story.
If the machine is competent for leadership, what does this mean for leadership? How will our perception of work, goals, and contributions change when CEOs don’t even have a Social Security number?
Now, before you all point out that this AI is “impossible” to be fully competent for the CEO’s job, I agree. Qu Xiaoyin also said in her statement that Astra "is not perfect. She cannot sign a legal contract - it requires human consultants to intervene. Security, such as data strategies, requires our supervision. There are challenges in transparency - she is still learning how to express herself clearly."
But even if Astra is not perfect, its more important significance still exists. She has the ability to disrupt the work model. This is more important than marketing for those who prepare for their kids’ future. Because educators now have to ask new questions: What does the school prepare for students? What is the job like when AI can lead a company?
The old answer no longer applies. "Learn to Programming" is not enough, Astra can program. "Being a good project manager" is not enough, Astra can manage it.
So, what else? What is important?
human nature. Not in a romantic way, but in a necessary way. Because Astra won't get tired, but she doesn't care. She wouldn't ask if a product should be developed, nor who it helped or hurt. That's our job.
This moment requires educators to lead purposefully. This does not necessarily mean integrating AI tools into the classroom, nor nurturing students for jobs that may not exist, but nurturing them to ask better questions and shape the world that AI will build, rather than just responding passively.
Students must learn to recognize the value they have in aspects that AI cannot provide, not faster answers, but better questions. Perhaps most urgent is that they need support. If the machine performs better than you, it is easy to feel outdated. Education must respond with something more effective than merely cheering up, it must provide a sense of identity, meaning and place in the story.
Leadership is no longer about output but about responsibility. Machines make decisions, but humans still have to take responsibility. Astra can run workflows, but she can't be brave, she can't motivate, she can't imagine something very different from its training data. That's our job.
Therefore, the challenge is not to make students faster, but to help them become clearer, kinder, and bolder.
The question is not that "Can AI run a company?" The answer to this question is becoming clearer and clearer. A better question is: “Can we develop leaders who can think morally in an ethical world of machine?”
This is the test of our time.
It begins in every school.
