How to manage karma in inZOI
inZOI: A Deep Dive into the Karma System and City Management
inZOI, while largely adhering to established life simulation game mechanics, introduces a unique karma system that significantly impacts gameplay. This system operates on two levels: individual Zoi karma and city-wide karma. Understanding and managing both is crucial for a smooth in-game experience.
The karma system is visually represented by two orbiting orbs; bluish-green for positive karma, red for negative, and purple for neutral. Individual Zoi karma is tracked on their Zoi Card. Maintaining positive karma for individual Zois is relatively straightforward: encourage positive interactions and discourage negative ones. Disabling autonomous actions can help control unruly Zois, though remember this resets when increasing game speed.
City-wide karma, however, presents a greater challenge. A nightly Soul Management Report from the game's feline overlords details the city's average karma level, categorized as Good, Normal, Warning, or Caution. Even slightly negative averages can quickly push the city into Caution territory. The city's overall karma score seems disproportionately affected by a few Zois with negative karma, making proactive management essential.
Consequences of Negative Karma
Negative individual Zoi karma may lead to premature death (unconfirmed), reduced positive interaction options, and, critically, prevents deceased Zois from moving on, leaving them as ghosts. These ghosts hinder population growth, potentially leading to a ghost town.
Severe negative city-wide karma may result in a "meeting with the CEO," a mysterious event whose consequences remain unclear.
Managing City Karma
While there's no way to disable the karma system, several strategies can help:
- Intervene via the Soul Management Report: The report allows intervention with Zois at extreme karma levels. "Terrible" karma Zois can be scolded, temporarily improving their karma. The effect of praising "best" karma Zois is less clear.
-
Rotational Gameplay: Regularly switching control between households allows for direct karma management of individual Zois. However, this is time-consuming and may not prevent other Zois from developing negative karma.
-
Control City Status: Adjusting the "Conversation Karma Positivity" slider in the "Manage Zois > Manage City" menu gradually influences Zois' behavior towards positive karma. Changes are incremental and take time to manifest. This menu also allows population adjustments.

Currently, there are no cheats to directly manipulate karma. However, stay tuned for updates as the game develops. Mastering the karma system is key to thriving in inZOI's unique world.
