Drag and drop ordering and spread page operation on e-commerce platform product list

Many e-commerce applications need to support users to drag and drop to adjust the order of product lists and allow spread-page operations. This article introduces an efficient sorting algorithm that implements this function while minimizing changes to existing systems (such as product addition and modification operations). The database already has a sort field (the initial value is 0), and the product list is currently displayed in reverse order of time.

Sorting algorithm design

We use a sort field-based algorithm. During initial sorting, you need to assign a value to sort field of each item and reserve a sufficient gap, such as 1000. The following SQL statements implement initial sorting:

 SET @sort := 0;
UPDATE product SET sort = (@sort := @sort 1000) ORDER BY id;
Copy after login

This will cause sort value to start at 1000, incrementing by 1000 each time. For example:

id sort
1 1000
2 2000
3 3000

When the user drags the product, the new sort value is recalculated. Suppose that the item with id 3 is dragged between id 1 and id 2, and the new sort value is the intermediate value of the two sort values before and after:

New sort value = 1000 (2000 - 1000) / 2 = 1500

Update the sort value of the product with id 3:

id sort
1 1000
3 1500
2 2000

To improve flexibility, random numbers can be added when calculating intermediate values to avoid too uniform sort values.

When sort value gap is not enough to support finer sorting, readjust sort value and expand the gap:

 SET @sort := 0;
UPDATE product SET sort = (@sort := @sort 1000) ORDER BY sort;
Copy after login

This algorithm ensures that the sorting function is continuously efficient and has minimal impact on existing systems. The spread page operation only needs to correctly obtain sort value of the target position during the drag and drop process, and the algorithm itself does not need to be modified.

How to create an oracle database How to create an oracle database How to create an oracle database How to create an oracle database Apr 11, 2025 pm 02:33 PM

Creating an Oracle database is not easy, you need to understand the underlying mechanism. 1. You need to understand the concepts of database and Oracle DBMS; 2. Master the core concepts such as SID, CDB (container database), PDB (pluggable database); 3. Use SQL*Plus to create CDB, and then create PDB, you need to specify parameters such as size, number of data files, and paths; 4. Advanced applications need to adjust the character set, memory and other parameters, and perform performance tuning; 5. Pay attention to disk space, permissions and parameter settings, and continuously monitor and optimize database performance. Only by mastering it skillfully requires continuous practice can you truly understand the creation and management of Oracle databases.

Do mysql need to pay Do mysql need to pay Apr 08, 2025 pm 05:36 PM

MySQL has a free community version and a paid enterprise version. The community version can be used and modified for free, but the support is limited and is suitable for applications with low stability requirements and strong technical capabilities. The Enterprise Edition provides comprehensive commercial support for applications that require a stable, reliable, high-performance database and willing to pay for support. Factors considered when choosing a version include application criticality, budgeting, and technical skills. There is no perfect option, only the most suitable option, and you need to choose carefully according to the specific situation.

How to recover data after SQL deletes rows How to recover data after SQL deletes rows Apr 09, 2025 pm 12:21 PM

Recovering deleted rows directly from the database is usually impossible unless there is a backup or transaction rollback mechanism. Key point: Transaction rollback: Execute ROLLBACK before the transaction is committed to recover data. Backup: Regular backup of the database can be used to quickly restore data. Database snapshot: You can create a read-only copy of the database and restore the data after the data is deleted accidentally. Use DELETE statement with caution: Check the conditions carefully to avoid accidentally deleting data. Use the WHERE clause: explicitly specify the data to be deleted. Use the test environment: Test before performing a DELETE operation.
