Nagahama Castle: A Unique Challenge in Assassin's Creed Shadows

Nagahama Castle in Assassin's Creed Shadows stands out as an unusually designed location, unlike other forts and castles in the game. Unlike more traditional structures like Takatsuki Castle, Nagahama Castle is a series of smaller courtyards spread across the water, presenting a unique gameplay challenge.

The castle's outer wall forms an "L" shape, extending from west to east, with a larger landmass in the southeast where most of the action unfolds. Players will utilize Naoe's stealth skills to hunt Samurai Daisho across this intricate environment.

Location and Fast Travel

Nagahama Castle is situated in the northeastern part of Omi, along the shores of Lake Biwa. The closest fast travel point (besides the one within the castle itself) is Nagahama Kakurega, located to the northwest.

Eliminating the Samurai Daisho

The hunt for the four Samurai Daisho requires a strategic approach, utilizing the castle's unique layout to your advantage.

First Daisho:

Access the castle from the north, bypassing the main entrance. Use a small boat to reach a broken wall and climb onto the castle's perimeter. The first Daisho is located across a bridge in the northeast section. Eliminate nearby guards strategically before engaging the Daisho.

Second Daisho:

Proceed east from the central courtyard to encounter the second Daisho. Approach from the north along the water's edge, taking out two guards along the higher path. Use the guard tower for a tactical advantage.

Third Daisho:

The third Daisho is found in a large tower in the northwestern corner of the southern island. Use Shinobi Bells or weapon noises to lure and eliminate guards before engaging the Daisho. A double assassination is possible if timed correctly.

Fourth Daisho:

Swim to the northwestern side of the castle to reach a small courtyard where the final Daisho awaits. Take out guards along the western path before approaching the meditating Daisho for a silent takedown.

Rewards and Additional Loot

Completing the Daisho assassinations grants access to a Legendary Chest containing 3,000 exp, an engraving, and the Mamushi Snake Robes Legendary Light Armor for Naoe. Numerous additional chests and resources are scattered throughout the castle.

A synchronization viewpoint and fast travel point are also available at the top of the Tenshu in the northwestern corner of the southern part of the castle.
