WooCommerce on Mobile

Whether you are using e-commerce features on WordPress.com or using WooCommerce on your self-hosted WordPress website (just like us), you can use the WooCommerce mobile app. Yes, WooCommerce has native apps for iOS and Android. They just released some nice upgrades to make them more practical.

You probably know that we use WooCommerce here. We have used it in the past to sell physical products such as posters mailed to you, and MVP supporter membership (in the past) gives you access to features like our books and ad-free.

Here is a behind-the-scenes look at some useful screens in the WooCommerce mobile app in our store (iOS app):

The most important new feature is the ability to add products.

There may be many reasons you want to do this, but imagine this. Suppose you are a ceramic artist (did you know that was my undergraduate major?), and you just opened a kiln filled with beautiful works. You are an artist who makes a living from your own work, so you will sell all these new works.

In the past, you might have written down on paper what the work was, how much you want to charge, etc. Then you take some photos. Then, the next time you are in front of your computer, you will visit your store and publish them. With the latest WooCommerce updates, you can publish them without even leaving the studio.

Get your photo (probably from your phone directly), create a product in the WooCommerce app, price it, describe it, and publish it now.

When an order comes in, you will know because you can get push notifications (if you prefer) and you can manage the order fulfillment process there. You can basically manage your business life directly from your phone or tablet. In addition to adding products, you can:

  • View and modify orders in real time
  • Monitor customer reviews and baseline statistics
  • Confirm the order status and edit it if needed
  • Enable push notifications to keep updating
  • Instant switch to WooCommerce store

If you want to know more, Aaron Douglas wrote the latest version on the WooCommerce blog (adding products is the number one request feature!).

I had someone write in with this very legit question. Lea just blogged about how you can get valid CSS properties themselves from the browser. That's like this.
