An Argentine prosecutor is requesting a judge to issue an Interpol “Red Notice” for Hayden Davis, an American citizen allegedly involved in the launch of the controversial LIBRA memecoin that has entangled Argentine President Javier Milei in a dramatic political scandal.

The request, made by prosecutor Gregorio Dalbón and seen by Fortune, accuses Davis of being a key figure behind the LIBRA memecoin, which shot to fame after President Milei enthusiastically endorsed it on Valentine’s Day.

Following Milei’s endorsement, which involved the president holding up a Valentine’s Day card reading “Libra / Love” and urging his followers to invest “in the project that arrives with hope,” LIBRA's market capitalization surged to over $4.5 billion.

However, the token’s value quickly collapsed, plummeting by more than 99% to reach approximately $18 million.

Later analysis by blockchain researchers revealed that certain insiders sold large amounts of the token shortly after Milei's public support.

In his request for the Red Notice, Dalbón expressed concerns that Davis might evade justice, highlighting his financial resources that could facilitate his flight or concealment.
