Honkai: Star Rail - Best Builds and Light Cones For Firefly

Jan 03, 2025 pm 02:43 PM

Ever since the beginning of the Penacony main story in Honkai: Star Rail, Firefly has been one of the most outshining and anticipated characters. After the Version 2.3 update, you can finally play as this character once you successfully summon her on the limited-time banner, and she brings quite a lot to the table.

Relics

Iron Cavalry Against The Scourge This Relic set got released to the game alongside Firefly, and it's also her best in slot. It increases her Break DMG by 16 percent while also allowing her to ignore a whopping 25 percent DEF while attacking an enemy.
Thief Of Shooting Meteor This starter Relic set is your only other choice if you can't farm for the Iron Cavalry set just yet. It gives you up to 32 percent Break Effect while also regenerating some Energy when you break an enemy's weakness.

Planar Ornaments

Forge Of The Kalpagni Lantern Once again, the Planar Ornament set released alongside Firefly is her best in slot for clear reasons. It gives her some extra SPD while also increasing her Break Effect by a whopping 40 percent.
Talia: Kingdom Of Banditry This set can give you up to 36 percent Break Effect as long as you have 145 SPD, which is quite easy to get with Firefly. However, it's difficult to farm and gives far less value than her best in slot.

Firefly Relic Stat Priority

While Firefly might be a main DPS, the stats you'll be looking for when it comes to her Relics are completely different from most DPS units. Here's what you need the most on her:

You don't need to build any Crit on Firefly as she doesn't deal a lot of personal damage even with maximum upgrades.

Ideally, you need at least 360 percent Break Effect on Firefly as this is the maximum multiplier that gets taken into account with her kit. Moreover, you'd want to have at least 150 SPD without any external SPD enhancement to get multiple turns during her Ultimate.

Best Firefly Light Cones

Honkai: Star Rail - Best Builds and Light Cones For Firefly

One of the main steps as you try to build Firefly is getting a proper Light Cone for her. While you do have quite a few choices for this, most of the Light Cones don't suit her completely due to the unique kit:

Rank

Name

Synergy

1

Whereabouts Should Dreams Rest It's no surprise that Firefly's signature Light Cone works the best for her. Apart from a massive 60 percent Break Effect, this also increases the Break DMG taken by enemies while decreasing their SPD.

2

On The Fall Of An Aeon With this F2P-friendly Light Cone, you can get an ATK boost of up to 64 percent with maximum Refinements. While this ATK bonus doesn't directly benefit Firefly, it does get converted to your Break Effect after a certain point.

3

The Moles Welcome You The reason to use this Light Cone is similar to the one above. ATK Percent is one of the important stats on Firefly as it gets converted into Break Effect after you have over 1,800.

4

Flames Afar This is another F2P-friendly Light Cone that can be decent for her as it lets her stay at a relatively higher health while increasing her DMG.

Firefly Traces Overview And Priority

boost

Before you start upgrading anything related to Firefly, it's quite important to understand what she does since this DPS unit doesn't function like any other. You won't be able to see her dealing massive damage when you trigger her abilities since most of her damage is locked behind the enemies' Weakness being broken.

Here are the main points that'll help you understand her kit:

  • Firefly can apply Fire weakness to enemies using her Technique, which applies it to all the enemies in each wave, or the enhanced Skill, which only applies it to one enemy with each trigger.
  • Firefly's Ultimate puts her in an enhanced state for a certain amount of time (the timer can be seen on the action bar), and she deals extra damage during this state based on her Break Effect.
  • When you hit Weakness Broken enemies with her enhanced abilities, she instantly triggers an instant of Super Break DMG dealing up to 50 percent of her Break DMG on each enemy hit.
  • During the enhanced state, Firefly can reduce the Toughness of enemies even when they don't have the Fire weakness. However, this only reduces 55 percent of the original Toughness amount.

As you might already understand, most of Firefly's DMG is locked behind breaking the enemy's Weaknesses. With this in mind, you'd want to upgrade her Ultimate first as it gives her a ton of SPD and Break DMG<script> window.adsNinja = window.adsNinja || {}; window.adsNinja.queue = window.adsNinja.queue || []; window.adsNinja.queue.push(function(){ window.adsNinja.queue.push(function(){ var fallbackContent = ` <video> <source src='https://video.thegamerimages.com/2024/06/honkai-star-rail-firefly-full-combat-experience-in-moc-last-floor-1718802551.mp4' type='video/mp4'> Your browser does not support the video tag. `; try{ var result = window.adsNinja.monetizeVideo('.emaki-video-player-088ce9f0ffd844eb', JSON.parse(`{\"name\":\"Instream-InContent\",\"groupName\":\"content\"}`), JSON.parse(`{\"trackingId\":\"in-content\",\"playlist\":[{\"title\":\"Honkai Star Rail Firefly Full Combat Experience In MoC Last Floor\",\"description\":\"\",\"length\":\"3:58\",\"mimeType\":\"video\/mp4\",\"url\":\"https:\/\/video.thegamerimages.com\/2024\/06\/honkai-star-rail-firefly-full-combat-experience-in-moc-last-floor-1718802551.mp4\",\"thumbnailLink\":\"https:\/\/static1.thegamerimages.com\/wordpress\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/honkai-star-rail-firefly-idle-animation-in-dreamflux-reef.jpg?fit=crop&w=1024&h=576\",\"textTracks\":[{\"kind\":\"subtitles\",\"label\":\"English\",\"language\":\"en\",\"url\":\"https:\/\/video.thegamerimages.com\/2024\/06\/honkai-star-rail-firefly-full-combat-experience-in-moc-last-floor-1718802551-1718803370.vtt\",\"default\":false}]}]}`)); if(!result){ console.warn('Failed to load AdsNinja video player.'); document.getElementById('emaki-video-player-088ce9f0ffd844eb').innerHTML = fallbackContent; } } catch(error){ console.warn('Failed to load AdsNinja video player.'); document.getElementById('emaki-video-player-088ce9f0ffd844eb').innerHTML = fallbackContent; } }); }); </script>. The increase in SPD might be little with each level, but it's more significant than you might think.

After that, you can upgrade her Skill followed by her Talent. The former increases the Energy she gains with each normal Skill while the latter reduces her DMG taken and increases her Effect RES. If you're consistently using her with a good shielder like Aventurine, you can skip her Talent.

It's highly important to unlock various Bonus Abilities for Firefly as soon as you can since some main parts of her kit are locked behind them.

Finally, you can also skip Firefly's Basic Attack upgrades if you want to save some resources.

Pro Tips To Play Firefly

Honkai: Star Rail - Best Builds and Light Cones For Firefly

You might be able to easily defeat everything with Firefly in the overworld, but you'll need to use a few tricks if you want to efficiently use her in the endgame content:

  • It's important to time your Ultimate instead of using it as soon as it's ready. You can usually get your Ultimate after one attack at the start of battle, but you might have a special buff coming from a different character soon. Wait for this buff and then trigger the Ultimate to get an instant turn.
  • If there's an enemy with their Weakness broken with another one beside it with a bit of Toughness left still, it's better to focus on the second enemy and make sure they're also weakness broken in that attack.
  • In case your Ultimate ends once before all the enemies are defeated, it's better to focus Firefly's normal skill on an enemy that still has a Toughness bar since you don't deal a lot of damage anyway. If you do this, you can be ready to break their Weakness when your Ultimate is ready again.
  • The difference between Firefly when used in an F2P team and when used in her best team is staggering. She can easily clear all the endgame content, so it's worth going for her best supports like Fugue, Ruan Mei, and Lingsha whenever you can.
