Set Validation Class for Dynamic Textbox in a Table

This issue arises when creating a table containing a row of dynamic textboxes, and the goal is to add a validation class to all textboxes.

The original code attempted to use jQuery to add the input.input-validation-error class to all textboxes inside the table, but it failed to apply the class correctly. To resolve this, the solution involves:

1. Adding Data-Val Attributes to the Textboxes:

To ensure seamless client-side validation, it's crucial to include the necessary data-val attributes to the textboxes and placeholder elements for displaying validation messages. This allows jquery.validate.unobtrusive.js to perform client-side validation.

2. Providing a Default ClsTargetInfo Object:

Initialize the TargetInfo property with a default ClsTargetInfo object. This object's HTML representation will be generated in the view.

3. Modifying the HTML for the Dynamic Row:

Within the HTML, remove unnecessary id attributes from the textboxes and add placeholder elements for validation messages. Also, ensure that you include a hidden input for the indexer to allow non-consecutive indexing.

4. Generating the New Row's HTML:

Create a hidden element outside the form tags and copy the HTML for the dynamic row into it. Replace all indexer instances with a dummy character and update the value of the hidden input to match the dummy character.

5. JavaScript for Adding New Rows:

Update the JavaScript to clone the new row, replace the dummy indexer character with a unique indexer, and then append the new row. Don't forget to reparse the validator after adding new rows to activate client-side validation.

6. Additional Notes:

  • Prefer using CSS for styling instead of inline styles.
  • Consider using hidden inputs for indexing instead of delete buttons.
  • Utilize BeginCollectionItem helper for better maintainability.
