Mirthwood: Shadow In The Night Quest Walkthrough

Players will stumble upon hidden quests in Mirthwood. Shadow In The Night is a quest that can be triggered if you head to the cemetery in Brightoak. The cemetery is on the east side of town. There is a note on a chair, that once read, will initiate this quest.

Shadow In The Night will lead you on a goose chase, trying to find out what all these strange markings mean. The finale of this quest gives you a chance to earn or lose Morality. Completing side quests like this is a great way to farm Morality points.

Search For Clues

After starting the quest from the Brightoak cemetery, you will have to look for clues of a dangerous monster around Brightoak. These clues will all be found within Murkwater Marsh

, south of Brightoak.

Quest objectives are sometimes displayed on the map as a yellow highlighted circle

. This is the general location of where to find the next part of a quest.

The first clue is a tattered note next to some ruins

. From Brightoak, follow the south path into the marshes and walk straight down until you see a broken-down wagon.

Once you have found the note, the quest will change to Continue Searching. The last clue is claw markings on a tree.

There are some trees in Brightoak that have claw markings on them. You only need to investigate one tree to continue.

Head back to the southbound path. The tree is on the left side of the trail. When you get closer, a magnifying glass icon will appear on the tree.

Find Markus

The last objective is to use the clues you found to reach Markus, who can be found at the yellow highlighted circle on the map. When you meet up with Markus, you find he is a villager native to Brightoak who turns into a werewolf.

There are two decisions you can make here. You can either kill Markus or leave him alone. Leaving Markus alone grants you 5 Morality and the completion of the quest. Killing Markus grants you 5 Renown and a couple of useful items.
