ONEXPLAYER OneXGPU 2 released as new eGPU with powerful AMD Radeon GPU and expansion options for $839
One-Netbook has now released its second eGPU, which it is selling as the OneXGPU 2. For context, the new eGPU replaces the AMD Radeon RX 7600M XT-powered OneXGPU (curr. $699.99 on Amazon), which also featured ports like OCuLink, USB 4, DisplayPort and even M.2 2280 SSD expansion. Not only does the OneXGPU 2 expand upon that port selection, but it also contains a significantly more powerful GPU to boot.
On the one hand, One-Netbook has integrated OCuLink and USB 4 ports for connecting devices like gaming handhelds and laptops with bandwidths of up to 64 Gbps and 40 Gbps, respectively. Please note that while the OneXGPU 2 features USB Type-A ports, a MicroSD card reader, an M.2 2280 slot (PCIe 4.0 x4) and a Gigabit Ethernet connection, these are only accessible over USB 4. With that being said, it is possible to connect a device via OCuLink and USB4 simultaneously. At any rate, two DisplayPort 2.0 ports and one HDMI 2.1 port are on hand as external display outputs, regardless of which connection method you use.
On the other hand, theRadeon RX 7600M XThas made way for theRadeon RX 7800M, which AMD based around a Navi 32 GPU that delivers 60 Compute Units and 12 GB of GDDR6 VRAM. By default, theRadeon RX 7800Mhas a 130 W TGP at its disposal. However, One-Netbook has included a turbo button too that increases its peak wattage to 180 W when needed. Supposedly, the eGPU peaks at 53.2 dB (A) with its fan set to 100%, which delivers 20.75 CFM peak airflow.
Nonetheless, One-Netbook reports that surface temperatures can reach 53.6°C under full load, although eGPU itself is unlikely to be nearby when gaming. Currently, the OneXGPU 2 is orderablethrough Indiegogofor $839 or $1,838 with aONEXPLAYER X1. Please note that these prices will rise on September 30. Also, One-Netbook will not begin shipping pre-orders until sometime during November 2024.
