Garmin leaks new Fenix 8 Pro and Fenix 8 MicroLED smartwatches
Garmin appears to have confirmed that three new Fenix 8 models are on the way. The regular Fenix 8 and Fenix 8 Solar smartwatches launched a couple of weeks ago, with new features like support for diving and a voice assistant.
Now, multiple screenshots of the Garmin Connect app (below), shared on Reddit, seem to show that Fenix 8 Pro 47mm, Fenix 8 Pro 51 mm and Fenix 8 MicroLED smartwatches are in development. The leaked Garmin Fenix 8 watch models were visible in the “Add Device” section of the app, though they appear to have since been removed. While a Pro version of the watch is not a huge surprise, a variant of the wearable with a MicroLED display was somewhat unexpected. This technology could provide a higher brightness level, lower power consumption and reduce screen burn-in.
Garmin has not yet officially announced a Fenix 8 Pro or Fenix 8 MicroLED smartwatch. Whether these devices will ever be released and at what price remains to be seen. It is worth noting that companies like Apple are reported to have already shelvedplans to develop a MicroLED smartwatch due to high production costs. If they do launch, it is anticipated that all three of these smartwatches will be more expensive than the standard Fenix 8, which starts from $999.99/£869.99/€999.99.
