Pathfinder Wrath of the Righteous: Gray Garrison statue puzzle guide

The first time you visit the Gray Garrison in Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous is during the prologue. After going through an unwinnable battle, you end up in the Defender’s Rest tavern. From the tavern, you need to recruit allies and explore the Blackwing Library to find the Storyteller, talk with Irabeth, and complete the Gray Garrison and the statue puzzle.

How to solve the Gray Garrison statue puzzle in Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous

To be clear, this won’t be a full walkthrough for the Gray Garrison area in Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous. Know that you’ll be up against lots of cultists and demons. However, the good news is that some of the allies you’ve recruited will play a role. I recommend saving before starting this since it’ll be as difficult if not more than the Fury Arena in the A Dance of Masks DLC.

First and second floor fights

On the first floor, grab the Scabbard of Heirloom Sword in the room to the southwest. Watch out for the trap, and keep pushing forward through the door. Here, you need to focus on the cultists and ignore the magic door. After that, head to the second floor and take out the Vermleks.

Now for the “Thieflings” (a troupe of Tiefling thieves — say this five times without flubbing), which will sabotage one of the rooms to kill the hostiles therein. Meanwhile, spellcaster NPCs can debuff and cause some of the denizens to fall asleep. Keep your distance, use AoE spells, and you’ll make it through.

You find a locked room that has Lesser Sonic Quiver and Razor-Sharp Claw in it. Across from the hall is another room that has Abrikandilu and Magic Essence. Beyond that is a large trap on the floor. Disarm it, take The Malady, Magic Essence, Shiny Dagger, and Tankard of Free Spirit from the rooms beyond, and use one character to disarm and bait the Rogue ahead. Once that is taken care of, rush in with everyone.

How to solve the Gray Garrison statue puzzle

Eventually, you’ll reach a room on the second floor with six statues (there’s also a succubus and several cultists here that you need to fight). The goal is to activate the switches in order. The clue is on one of the texts that you can find here. But you can see the solution in the image below.

If you do it right, a hidden door will open, allowing you to obtain several items such as the Flail of Lightburst, Cold Iron Flachion, Amulet of Agile Fists, Lightened Harness, and Leather Barding for your animal companions/mounts.

Note: In another section of the Gray Garrison, you’ll battle an enemy that drops a key. This will open a door on the second floor which has a ladder leading to the third floor.

On the third floor, you can take out the Minotaur (drops the Blocker Greataxe). Then, save your game and interact with the Wardstone.

Which Mythic Path choice should I pick?

This has a storybook event where you can select a Mythic Path dialogue option. Here are your options and their consequences:

• Demon Mythic Path – Keep the Purple Stone Knife and the “doings of mortals” no longer concern the aeons.
• Angel Mythic Path – Keep the Purple Stone Knife and end the battle within the Wardstone.
• Aeon Mythic Path –Destroy the Purple Stone Knife but continue to make progress down the aeon path.
• Destroy the stone or cleansing the stone – Destroy the Purple Stone Knife.

A short cutscene follows, and you’ll then do battle against the demoness Minagho and her minions. Personally, I just cast Grease here to make everyone slip before pummeling the boss.

When you’re done, Staunton Vhane whisks Minagho away. Clearing the Gray Garrison concludes the first act of Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous’ campaign. You’ll now have access to Mythic Paths and, soon, you’ll experience the Crusade/Army Management mechanics which may inspire you to respec your character.
