Method 1: Use the built-in watermark function
1. Open the Word document that needs to be added with a watermark, and click the [Watermark] button in the [Design] list of the menu tab above.
2. After clicking [Watermark], a drop-down menu will pop up, showing the built-in watermark options, including common watermarks such as "Confidential" and "Internal Use Only".
Select a suitable built-in watermark and instantly add it to your document with a click. After completion, you will see this watermark on every page of the document. The default is semi-transparent effect and is displayed in the center.
If the built-in watermark cannot meet your needs, you can click [Custom Watermark] to add a custom text watermark according to your needs.
3. After clicking [Custom Watermark], the [Watermark] dialog box will pop up.
If you want to use a company logo or other image as a watermark, you can select the [Image Watermark] option, and then click [Select Image] below to import the image.
If you want to customize the text watermark, select [Text Watermark], and then set the font, font size, color, and watermark layout (horizontal or diagonal) as needed.
After completing the settings, click [Apply] or [OK], and the custom text watermark will be displayed on every page of the document.

Method 2: Add multiple watermarks
If you need to add multiple watermarks to the same page, you can do it as follows.
1. Add a watermark through "Method 1", and then double-click the header position to enter the editing state.
2. After the header is editable, select the watermark with the mouse and press the shortcut key [CTRL+D] to copy the watermark. Just press the shortcut key as many times as you need, and then adjust the position of the watermark. Just turn off the header.
Method 3: Insert watermark through text box
We can also use text boxes to insert text watermarks.
1. Click the [Text Box] button in the [Insert] list on the menu tab. After the text box pops up, enter the text watermark you want to add, such as "Draft".
2. Select the text and adjust the font, size, color and layout of the watermark as needed.
3. After adjusting the text, select the text box, right-click the mouse, and select [No Outline] under the [Border] option, so that the text border can be removed.

Notes:
If you find that most options in the menu tab cannot be selected when adding a watermark, it is likely that the Word document has been protected by restrictions and cannot be edited. You need to remove the restrictions through a password before you can add a watermark.
First, click the [Restrict Editing] option in the [Review] list of the menu tab.
