XFX Phoenix Nirvana coming globally with interchangeable fans
Less than two months ago, XFX introduced a China-exclusive product with a few special treats. The Radeon RX 7900 XTX Phoenix Nirvana was silently released, although there's plenty for this product's owners to be proud of. Sporting a massive 3.5-slot wide cooling system with swappable fans, this video card, which was unveiled roughly one year and a half after AMD released the RX 7900 XTX GPU it uses, also comes with the Honeywell PTM7950 phase-change thermal pad for improved cooling performance.
Earlier this week, XFX posted on Twitter/X an image showing a card similar to the Phoenix Nirvana with a swappable fan being partially removed, accompanied by the "Something Cool is coming." message. While this teaser is not revealing everything, there are only some less essential blanks that need to be filled right now, with the exception of the thermal pad that will be used.
The Phoenix series currently includes the RX 7900 XTX, 7900 GRE, and 7800 XT models. Since none of these are budget solutions, it is rather safe to assume that XFX will add swappable fans to all of them. Other details concerning the cooling system will remain a mystery for a while. The main advantage of swappable fans is that they are very easy to remove when blowing away dust, but replacing defective ones is also easier than with traditional fans.
In China, the XFX Radeon RX 7900 XTX Phoenix Nirvana is listed for almost $1,100, so the models that will hit the global market will certainly be more expensive compared to their competitors. Those looking for a reasonably- priced 7900 XTX can currently grab the XFX Speedster MERC310 AMD Radeon RX 7900XTXoff Amazon for $949.99 (5% discount, $999.99 typical price). In this case, a support bracket is also included in the package.
