CentOS（Community ENTerprise Operating System）是Linux发行版之一，是RHEL/Red Hat Enterprise Linux的精简免费版，和RHEL为同样的源代码，不过，RHEL和SUSE LE等企业版，提供的升级服务均是收费升级，无法免费在线升级，因此要求免费的高度稳定性的服务器可以用CentOS替代Red Hat Enterprise Linux使用。
不差钱RedHat，技术支持是很好的，一个电话过去，马上就有工程师来帮忙解决问题，集群等其他问题都能帮你搞定，一旦新的漏洞出现，redhat一定是最早得到补丁的，centos出补丁的速度都是在13个小时之后了，和ubuntu都差不多，但是为什么大家都会推荐centos呢，因为centos是唯一一个采用老内核还在继续打补丁的版本，你可以看看centos内核，centos6系列的内核都是2.6的，但是最新的驱动，功能，都会帮你打包好了，所以说稳定性绝佳，但是centos6有一个致命缺陷，工具链太老，如果既想用新工具，又想有稳定性，centos7是很好的选择
